The Lord is my Refuge & Strength ~

Good morning! September 2nd already! I am looking forward to cool, crisp mornings the next few weeks. I love the colours of fall. In the meantime, let me share this card with you. Another fabulous image from Shady Lane Impressions (this one is being discontinued) I shared about this store in a previous post.

This rugged image is coloured using tombows on mixed media paper. I used spellbinder die to cut him out and layered it on another piece which I split in two to create a shadow layer. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Ariana Hummingbird

Materials Used:
Stamps: Mountain Goat(SLI), Ariana hummingbird
Inks: Archival Ink, Versafine, Tombow markers
Paper: MME, SU
Accessories: Brads, Spellbinder dies, SU punch

Fish Splash ~

Good morning, another quick card to share with you. This scenery takes you in...I grew up around lakes and trees so this scene caught my eye. Tombows are my current favourite medium in colouring so this was a delight.

I recently discovered Shady Lane Impressions hidden amongst farming country. The store owners are a delight and their stock impressive. They create most of their stamps and carry another stamp company. Pay them a visit when you are feeling adventurous. Store hours are three days a week M,W, F.

Materials Used:
Stamps: Fish Splash(SLI), scripture stamp (unknown)
Inks: Tombows, Ranger's Archival Ink, Versafine, White Gel pen
Paper: SU, Mixed Media, vellum
Accessories: Spellbinder die, SU punch, CTMH dots, CTMH embossing folder ribbon

SNSS New Release and Bloghop

Sweet 'n Sassy is releasing three new stamps! We are so excited to welcome illustrator Karla Dornacher with her bible journaling set Worship the Lord!
I am in love with this new set from Karla Dornacher! For my journal page, I went to my Cree hymnal where I mark my father's favourite hymn "Blessed Assurance". My heart was lonely for his voice so I jumped in with both feet and stamped the page! Some days, you just have to do that. It did my heart good.
Here is another shot of my page - I worked on a horizontal space and used 3Dstamp paints from Viva Decor. I simply swiped the colours that I liked and coloured in using prisma pencils.
Lastly, I made a baby girl card and layered it on spellbinder cardmaker die and embellished with ribbon and pearls. So girly and cute! I stamped baby innies inside the card for a sweet message to the new parents.

Blog Hop Giveaway!
What would a Blog Hop be without a giveaway, right? One random commenter will be selected to win a $20 Gift Code to Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. Be sure to leave a comment by Thursday, August 20th midnight EST. The winner will be posted on the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Blog on Friday, August 21st!

Now…Let's see our August Release!

SNSS Lovely Lotus Candle Tutorial

Good morning Sweet'nSassy friends! This morning, I am revisiting one of my early favourites in my stamping history. I love to give gifts and this is a thoughtful, quick and easy gift! Let's get started...
You will need: Pillar candle (any size), white tissue paper, stamps, ink, colouring medium (I used coloured pencils), wax paper, heat tool, embellishments
Top left: stamp your image on tissue paper.
Top right: colour with your choice of medium (I used prismacoloured pencils) Bottom left: closely cut out image using scissors
Bottom right: lay trimmed piece over the candle to desired position.
Pull off enough wax paper to wrap around candle. With one hand, hold taut so the stamped image doesn't shift and begin heating with your tool. You will see the wax "liquify" over the area you heat. In other words, you are sealing the tissue paper into the wax of the candle. Carefully, peel off the wax paper off the candle and be sure all portions of tissue has melded into the pillar. It should look like this...
Voila! You are finished. Embellish as desired. For my Candle, I created a tag from SNSS Decorative Plaques die set, and wrapped matching twine around the candle. I stamped the sentiment on the oval tag and sponged the layered piece with Rangers ink.
